Painting the Places I Call Home
I'm Craig Onslow, a British artist based in Albay in the Bicol Region of the Philippines. I create original acrylic and oil paintings inspired by the landscapes, landmarks and everyday scenes that surround me.
From Mayon Volcano and the Cagsawa Ruins to churches, coastlines and familiar corners of Albay, my paintings are my way of capturing the character of the place I now call home.
My Story
Art has been part of my life for many years, although for a long time my career took me in a very different direction. Originally from the UK, I spent much of my working life as a structural designer and latterly a systems engineer, living and working in different parts of the world.
Today, I live in Albay with my Bicolana wife and our son. Through my family, Bicol has become much more than simply somewhere I live — it's home. Returning to painting here has given me a fresh sense of purpose and an endless source of inspiration, from the unmistakable silhouette of Mayon Volcano to historic churches, coastal views and scenes from everyday local life.
I paint because I enjoy it. I don't believe original art should be something reserved for galleries or serious collectors, which is why I want my work to remain personal, original and affordable.
Every painting is created individually by me, signed, and has its own character. No two will ever be exactly the same.
Inspired by Albay & Bicol
Living in Albay means inspiration is never far away. Mayon Volcano dominates the landscape, but Bicol has so much more to capture — historic churches and ruins, busy streets, quiet coastal views and the everyday scenes that give the region its character.
Many of my paintings feature places that people here know and love. For someone from Albay, a familiar landmark can hold years of memories; for a visitor, it might remind them of a special trip or a place they hope to return to.
That's what I try to capture in my work — not simply what a place looks like, but something of the feeling and character that makes it memorable.

Art By Craig is about creating genuine, individually painted original artwork at affordable prices. Each painting is created by me using acrylics or oils — not mass-produced, reproduced or printed — so the artwork you receive is the actual painting that came from my easel.
Every original is signed by me and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, giving you a permanent record of the artwork and its provenance.
